The Crawford Hotel at Union Station offers a one-of-a-kind luxury experience in the heart of downtown Denver. Housed within the historic Union Station, the hotel blends timeless elegance with modern amenities. Guests enjoy access to vibrant restaurants, shops, and convenient transportation just steps from their room. With beautifully designed accommodations and personalized service, The Crawford is perfect for both leisure and business travelers.
The Crawford Hotel at Union Station receives largely positive reviews, praised for its prime location within the historic terminal, beautiful and well-appointed rooms, and attentive staff. While some guests appreciate the unique atmosphere and convenient access to transportation, recurring concerns relate to occasional service inconsistencies, noise levels, and cleanliness issues, particularly concerning room maintenance and valet experiences.
Nestled inside Denver Union Station, you’re quite literally in the action, if you’re staying here. Bookstore? Next door. Coffee? Steps away. The wallpaper is dramatic (the good kind), the ceilings are wonderfully high, and the views of the station below make you feel like you’re part of a classic travel film – minus the noise. I woke up to sight of trains arriving and people bustling about, all without the soundtrack. There were free drinks in the room, and a clothing steamer. For someone like me who considers creases a personal insult, that was a gift. The housekeeping staff thoughtfully left extra bottles of water, so we were fully hydrated for all our touristy adventures. Two showers felt quirky, and the bath is spacious. The light fixtures in the room deserve their own close-up. And the extra throw casually draped for cozying up made the stay feel intentional rather than transactional. We were allowed to check in early, which was wonderful! Giving four stars instead of five because there was a mix-up with the valet service on the day we left. We were told our car was ready, but it wasn’t. We ended up losing some time because of the confusion. However, it’s not a deterrent – I would absolutely return!
We booked this hotel specifically because it participates in American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts. We frequently stay within this program and expect a consistent level of professionalism, hospitality, and attention to detail. Unfortunately, this property did not meet that standard. At check-in, the associate assisting us was not welcoming and did not review any of the Fine Hotels & Resorts benefits. When I asked about the welcome cocktail and potential room upgrades, the responses felt dismissive. I had reviewed availability prior to arrival and was simply asking for clarification, yet the interaction felt more like we were being shut down than helped. It was only when another team member stepped in — offering a glass of wine and looking into upgrade options — that the experience began to resemble what one would expect from a property in this category. Later that evening, we called room service at 9:45 p.m. to order dessert and a bottle of champagne. We were told the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes and that our order could not be accommodated, despite room service hours being listed until 10:00 p.m. When I pointed out that we were calling within the stated service window, we were still refused. If service ends at 10:00 p.m., guests should reasonably expect to be able to place an order before then. Fine Hotels & Resorts properties are expected to deliver five-star service. Based on our experience, this hotel did not. We will return to the Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton in Denver in the future, where the service consistently aligns with the level promised.
I wouldn’t stay again . Terrible nights sleep. The good; the hotel is gorgeous. The rooms are restored beautifully and the vibe of the reception area cannot be beat. The beds were comfy. The coffee was great. The staff in the Cooper were great. The NOT SO GOOD; We were right by the bar area and I knew before the night started it would be a problem with the noise. We asked the front desk they said it’s never a problem, suggested the ear plugs and offered to move us but stated they’d put us on the street and the noise would be worse there so we opted to stay in the room we were assigned. The whole night there was a noise like a door clicking shut every 5-10 minutes. People were leaving the bar and using the area in front of our room to chat before heading out. We stayed here because we wanted easy access to the train to the airport because we were leaving so early but I didn’t expect that to mean we would be up all night. Overall, I was disappointed for a 5 star hotel at the price point. I’d choose differently next time.
My stay was beyond amazing. The rooms, service and location were more than expected. The building and the union station terminal areas are incredible. The food and drink options were top notch. The front desk staff were incredibly accommodating. Matt especially went above and beyond with helping me store my bags after i had checked out and before i left for the airport. Next time im in town i am only going to stay at The Crawford. Thank you for an amazing stay
We decided to do a "date weekend" at the Crawford and had a blast! Location was great and the hotel itself was great. Upstairs bar was wonderful. Room was very clean and felt "luxurious". The whole experience, from checking in all the way to getting our car from the valet, was wonderful. Elroy, the valet, was very professional and a blast to talk to. We will definitely be back.
I had a fantastic stay at The Crawford Hotel in Denver and would absolutely stay here again. The location is outstanding. Being directly adjacent to Union Station makes arrival incredibly easy. You can take the train straight from the airport and walk directly into the hotel, which is a huge plus. The welcome experience was excellent. The staff were friendly and professional, and I was offered a complimentary welcome drink that felt genuinely high quality rather than an afterthought. If you are booking through Amex, the property credit is very useful. It can be applied at a variety of bars and restaurants within Union Station, giving you plenty of great dining and cocktail options without ever leaving the building. I also appreciated the extra amenities. The complimentary scoop of ice cream and coffee were a nice touch, and access to a nearby health club was included. I used it during my stay and found it to be very nice and well maintained. The hotel rooms themselves were beautiful, comfortable, and well designed. The overall hard product is excellent, and combined with the service and location, it really comes together. Overall, this was a true five-star stay. Great location, excellent service, beautiful rooms, and very good food and beverage options. I would stay here again without hesitation.
Stayed here while on a short weekend trip to Denver during winter time. We loved the rustic feel of the hotel, it feels so luxurious yet accessible as part of the train station. Lobby is through a side entrance, totally secluded and quiet. We had a complimentary upgrade to a room on the 4th floor, and really enjoyed the tranquility and high ceiling. The room is simple but it was everything we need, including a view of the plaza. Restaurants and bar abound within the vicinity - the location is fantastic. Service is great and a digital concierge was in touch prior to check in. Extra perks include free Lyft rides and ice cream and coffee. Gym is in a basement and fairly basic. Internet connection can be improved.
The two ladies I talked to when deciding to stay or not couldnt answer the easiest questions. Examples: I see you have a Steam bath. Great. Would I access that through the fitness area ( free ) or thru the Spa? $$$. Are there any big downtown crowd activities going on during my stay I see there is a coffee Maker in the room. Is it the type that uses K Cups? I see you offer free lyft rides for close by. I will be taking the light rail. I dont walk well. Could I get a Lyft from the light rail to the hotel? Answer. The light rail is right outside The hotel door You wont need a lyft. Me. I think I remember a Long walk in a tunnel between Union station and the light rail Can I avoid that Long walk? Answer You can take the tunnel if You want, or a Lyft, but the Lyft drops you off for the hotel about the same distance as walking Thru the tunnel Me You have been very helpful I will think it over and call you back Good bye Ok. Cripple Creek might be fun
Phenomenal. Especially when you consider the value for money. This is unquestionably a Five Star hotel in the truest, old sense of the term. The hotel is relaxed and informal and feels boutique. The rooms are pretty, very architectural, immaculately maintained, and recently updated, although admittedly not ludicrously luxurious. I wished the pillows were real down or a better alternative. Most important was the service, which was exceptional, the kind that's hard to find anywhere these days, delivered with remarkable consistency from the director of rooms, to every front desk staffer and every housekeeper I passed in the hall. I've had the good fortune of staying at a handful of iconic luxury hotels in Paris, London, Rome, and New York over the past year, and the staff at the Crawford made a more memorable impression than any of them.
the hotel is very pretty and nice, and the room is very luxurious feeling w/ nice view as well but function fails to align with the same level of aesthetic. a lot of weird room quirks perhaps it was just my room but: - no desk, no chair in my room. absolutely nowhere to sit besides my bed? never experienced a hotel without the most basic necessities. - shower drains very slowly is despite it not being clogged on the surface. - if the rainfall showerhead isn't in use and im using the normal showerhead, the rainfall head drips cold water onto me as im taking a cold shower. leaky and not pleasant. - my room happened to be on the balcony so right next to the cocktail bar on 3rd floor. cool view and all/ i was able to sleep fine but you can definitely hear chitchat. - comfortable blankets though, they preserve heat well. i'd say at least a desk and chair and a usable shower should be provided even if it's a less expensive room. otherwise convenient location to train station + restaurants and coffee
